Chatham University SBE students often participate and succeed in business related competitions. These competitions serve as a great medium to gain hands on experience, practice course curriculum, and receive recognition! Explore this page to learn about what competitions are upcoming and open to students.

Local Government Case Competition: Allegheny County Department of Human Services
Register by September 15, 2025
The Allegheny County Local Government Case Competition brings together graduate students studying in the fields of public policy, social work, public health, psychology, sociology, law, and other human-services adjacent fields to design solutions to real-world challenges related to human services delivery.
Graduate students who participate in the case competition can build their resume, network with local leaders and peers, and win a cash prize! Details can be found on the Allegheny County Website under Events.

CFA Society Pittsburgh has announced their 11th annual Collegiate Financial Plan Competition. The top 10 submissions will all receive a monetary prize! See the full event description for details.
This competition entails creating and submitting a personal financial plan. The competition takes place entirely online with submission of one's financial plan due no later than April 1st, 2025. Chatham University students have previously been recognized in this competition and we encourage any student who is interested to participate!
The top 10 participants will all receive a monetary prize with first place being awarded $1000.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that connects university students with investment professionals from within the CFA Society® network. The competition provides students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and ethics and tests participants' analytical, valuation, reporting writing, and presentation skills.

Deliverables

IIA/ACFE Spring Presentation Contest
March 14th Team Members & Topics Due

IIA and ACFE are back teaming up again this Spring to hold their seasonal presentation contest.
This competition includes the amazing opportunity for teams of students to present at 1 PPG Place, otherwise known as the glass castle.
Team's must be assembled and members and topics disclosed by the 14th of March.
Online presentations must be submitted by April 1st.
Presentations will occur in person on April 3rd from 4pm-8pm at 1 PPG Place.

Pitt Business / Dick's Sporting Goods Case Competition
April 2nd-3rd In Person
The Pitt Business Strategy Case Competition is offered in partnership with DICK’S Sporting Goods. The national data-driven strategy challenge requires undergraduate students to use their strategy techniques to solve pressing issues in the retail space, and to provide creative recommendations to a panel of experts from DICK’S Sporting Goods.
Prizes include $3000 for 1st place, $2000 for 2nd, and $1000 for 3rd. Application for this competition closes on February 7th, 2025.

Collegiate Stock Picker Challenge
Begins February 15th
CFA Society Pittsburgh is conducting their second Collegiate Stock Picker Challenge of the academic school year. Pick stocks and create your own portfolio, the top 10 students with the highest average returns will receive a monetary prize!
This competition runs from February 15th - April 15th, be sure to register before the competition begins.
